Click here to download the Homeowner Permission Form. To stage a competition, the housing, renovation and developer categories must have three entries from two different companies. Should an insufficient amount of entries be received, BILD Alberta will cancel the award program for that year and refund all entry fees received. All entries would remain eligible for re-submission for the following year. Entrants agree that BILD Alberta may use the information and material submitted for promotional purposes or in any manner the Association chooses.
A signed Homeowner Waiver is required for all owner-occupied homes. This form must be submitted with your entry as an uploaded PDF. All members are eligible to apply for categories based on their membership type. Builders are also eligible to apply in the renovator categories. Only builders with a valid builder license at the time of award deadline are eligible to enter.
License must be active at time of award ceremony. Only renovators registered with Service Alberta as a prepaid contractor at the time of award deadline are eligible to enter. Registration must be active at time of award ceremony. Those not in good standing may be eliminated from the competition.
Eligible units new or renovated must be completed ready for sale, rent, or occupancy during the following periods:. Pinnacle awards are free to enter with minimum entry requirements. The judges reserve the right to make a final determination of the eligibility of multiple entries. Original Entries: Must be an original entry. However, an entry using the same floor plan for a production home or multi-family dwelling unit may be submitted again for a home in a different location than the previous entry.
In the case of a community development, an entry may be made for a new phase of the community providing that the entrant can demonstrate substantial differences in the new phase from phases entered previously. Pricing is current market price at the time of submission or total retail sale price at the time of sale.
Include all interior upgrades, appliances and permanent fixtures, window coverings, basement development optional. Use the current market price of the unit or total retail sale price at the time of sale, without GST. Exclude : Landscaping, detached garage, garage Sales Centre finishing, and furnishings.

Here are a few words of advice from the organizers and judges to help you to prepare a winning entry, and to know what pitfalls to avoid. No logos can appear in any images or floor plans and may result in disqualification. This competition is blind competition for all categories with the exception of the developer award categories. If you were to have two local CHBA memberships, you could enter three projects x2 in each category for the market areas covered by your two local CHBA memberships.
All units built as a part of a multi-family project must be entered in Multi-family categories. This includes duplexes, townhomes, and apartment-style condominiums which all share at least one common wall. Definition for each product is as follows:. If they do not share a common wall they must be entered into the appropriate Single Family category. Secondary suites are not eligible for individual submission. To determine which category your renovation should be entered into, the cost of the renovation must include your estimate of the dollar value of any materials the home owner self-supplied e.
Can I enter a kitchen or bathroom renovation in the Kitchen and Bathroom categories, and also enter them as part of a Whole House submission? Finalists will be notified via email in late July Admission to the awards ceremony is included with registration to the Fall Conference. Due to the popularity of the Fall Conference limited tickets will be available for purchase to non-conference attendees in late July.
Unfortunately, due to the high tourism, there is no hotel block for award finalists. It is in your best interest to reserve a room as soon as possible and cancel once finalists are released rather than wait for the finalists to be unveiled. Check with the hotel about their cancellation policy prior to booking. These awards recognize excellence the architectural qualities of a new home including overall exterior and interior design, use of building forms and materials, creative use of space, functionality of floor plan and overall appeal to a target market.

The award recognizes excellence in high performance homes that have an appealing aesthetic, including overall exterior and interior design, use of building forms and materials, creative use of space, and functionality of floor plan.
Single Room renovations can be entered as part of a House Renovation category as well as entered separately into the Kitchen, Bathroom, and Renovators Choice categories.
Professional renovation categories are eligible for the Renovation Pinnacle Award. These awards recognizes excellence in performance by developer members who create attractive, exciting and innovative communities. Developer categories are eligible for the Developer Pinnacle Award. The Safety Leadership Awards recognize builder and general members for their dedication to safety.
Each year awards are presented to those companies who have found an innovative approach to their safety programs and whose staff excel in safety. The Community Service Award recognizes a company that has demonstrated qualities of compassion, and service to either one organization or a variety of volunteer activities in one year. Cash or product donations will not be considered for this award.
Click here for criteria. The Pinnacle awards recognize the top builders, developers and professional renovators of the awards competition. Points accumulate by placement in the various categories along with points for volunteerism, safety leadership, community service and customer satisfaction.
To be eligible, you must complete an entry form for each Pinnacle Award you are competing for. To be eligible, an individual home builder, renovator or developer member must have entered a minimum of THREE awards in respective categories for the corresponding Pinnacle award e.

Entries will be judged according to the criteria answers to questions, images, uploaded plans, etc. Entries will be handled in a confidential manner. Judges agree not to disclose information concerning entries. All information submitted online is considered complete. Incomplete entries will not be disqualified due to insufficient information and materials however may result in a deficient evaluation.
Entrants will not be notified of missing components. A minimum of THREE entries from two different companies are required to stage a competition in each category. Entries may be moved up or down into a different category should the category receive less than three submissions.
Submissions are reviewed for accuracy. A Cost Review Committee may request additional documentation for verification. All decisions of the judges are final. Price is to be rounded up to the nearest dollar. All builders must submit the price based on the current market price at the time of submission or total retail sale price at the time of sale.
List the actual selling or advertised price including upgrades of the unit submitted. Basement It is optional to include the basement development in single family, multi-family and Net Zero categories. If the submission includes the basement, the sale price must reflect the basement development and it must be submitted in the appropriate price category. You must also include the basement in the square footage, photos and floor plan.
You cannot include the basement in comments, square footage, photos or floor plan. Images Photographs have an impact on how judges see your entry and influence your final score. Submit colour images that are px wide and ppi for the perfect combination of fast upload times and file sizes large enough to view on the website, at the award ceremony and in printed material.
The size upload limit is 5MB. Larger files cannot be uploaded. Photos are automatically renamed once uploaded. Image orientation can be horizontal or vertical. No major alterations to the photos interior or exterior are permitted. Colour correction is acceptable.

BILD Alberta received more than submissions, which feature 28 individual categories. Edmonton region projects have 40 finalists, followed by Calgary region at 24, Lethbridge has 11 finalists and Central Alberta has six projects in the running for provincial awards.
