My wife and I have known each other for 14 years. She is my best friend, and the person I trust most with my life. As such, she is my inner circle and familiar with my habits, quirks, and potential. Throughout dinner last night, I kept focus that my wife and I were on a date.
It didn't matter that family was with us or that the restaurant was packed with patrons. The woman I love was within my reach, and I should make contact with her. I reached out to hold her hand during conversation, and politely flirted with her throughout the evening. The interactions took me back to when we first started dating. The Date Deck reminded me to focus on the finite verbal and nonverbal signals sent and received throughout the evening.
It helped me to recall that when my wife leans her head onto my shoulder - it means that she's romantically connected with me and that we are in synch. In the end, The Date Deck didn't provide romance's "secret sauce", but it did remind me that I have all the ingredients and knowledge on how to assemble them.
The author provides sound options, opinions, and expert advice for breaking complacent routines in favor for enriched experiences. I strongly recommend this book for couples starting over again, and for couples hoping to recover fun and romance back into their lives.
Boy do I know that first hand. Date deck is a quick read and intriguing. I would say the author knows a thing or two about keeping her significant other happy too! Loved this short e-book! It had some really interesting ideas for what couples can do. Dinner and movies can get kinda boring after the 8th year! I really liked how Esther put all of these ideas together and presented them in really easy ways.
There really are no excuses for not putting in the effort. I would totally recommend anyone who asks themselves 'how can I feel more in love with my partner' to get this book. Simple and powerful! After a long week at work, thinking of dinner ideas and keeping up with the kids, it's great to have a resource available to help keep things fun in our marriage and this book has a great spin on some classic ideas.
